Description

OVERVIEW

SBX Cars is proud to offer for sale this rare 1987 Ferrari Testarossa “Monodado” showing 33,302 km (20,693 miles) on the odometer at the time of cataloging. Finished in classic Rosso Corsa over a cream leather interior, this 1980s icon would make anyone who grew up with a poster of a Testarossa on their wall ecstatic.

Nothing can compare to the sound of a classic Ferrari 12-cylinder howling to a 6,300 rpm redline behind you. With a double overhead cam, 4 valves per cylinder, a dry sump lubrication system, and a 9.30:1 compression ratio, the Testarossa has a top speed of 180 mph and a 0-62 mph time of 5.8 seconds.

Immediately upon release, the Ferrari Testarossa was acclaimed by the public and press for its striking straked design and famous flat-12 layout. It became a pop culture icon, with numerous celebrity owners such as Elton John, Michael Jordan, and Mike Tyson, and made numerous appearances in shows and video games, most notably Miami Vice and Sega’s Out Run.

This particular example sets itself apart from its Ferrari peers because it rides on a set of Monodado or “Single Bolt” center-lock magnesium wheels, making it one of the most desirable and rarest variants.

NOTABLE COMMENTARY

  • “The Ferrari Testarossa experience is like a rich man's version of a triple-dip banana split with hot fudge and all the toppings: it's much too sweet to enjoy at every meal, but there is no finer dessert for special occasions.” - Car and Driver

  • “In short, it’s a superb GT as well as a genuine supercar, which I reckon helps explain why Ferrari sold five times more Testarossas in 12 years than Lamborghini sold of the Countach in 16.” - EVO UK

  • “The Testarossa is a fully immersive machine.” - Road & Track

Its wide, low-slung wedge shape, defined by bold side strakes exudes aggression and elegance. The roaring flat-12 and 5-speed manual transmission deliver a thrilling symphony of speed for spirited, open-road drives. And with its unmistakable silhouette and iconic Rosso Corsa paint, it remains a poster child of supercar dreams and a timeless piece of Ferrari’s legacy.

This particular “Monodado” example stands tall above the rest, with its comprehensive engine out service, low mileage, and meticulous care since new. It’s a car that begs to be experienced firsthand, and a rare circumstance when meeting your heroes would not be detrimental to your admiration of them.
