SBX Cars is proud to offer for sale this 1957 Mercedes-Benz 220S Cabriolet showing 84,857 kilometers (52,727 miles) on the odometer at the time of this cataloging. Finished in black over a red leather interior, this W180 Cabriolet is offered by Wild About Cars Garage with records and a clear title.
Introduced in the mid-1950s as a lineup of full-sized luxury automobiles, the W180 lineup became known for its “Ponton” styling, unibody architecture, and class-leading premium materials. Coupes and Cabriolets, hand-finished at Sindelfingen, received enhanced details like authentic wood trim and rich leather interiors. When compared to the broader 180-chassis sedan series, the Cabriolets were considerably rarer; this example is said to be one of just 1,066 units produced for its year.
This elegant black Cabriolet is described by the seller as “Pebble Beach lawn-ready.” It has reportedly been long-term enthusiast-owned, and as such, it demonstrates the premier quality and sound mechanical condition that one would expect.
The 220S was a true personal luxury grand-tourer, boasting a 2.2-liter inline-six that could move the car with authority at highway speeds. This limited-production W180 Cabriolet is offered as a strong example of post-war German craftsmanship that will enjoy continued collectability.
There is no known service history at this time. This 220S is believed to be free of outstanding mechanical issues.
The selling dealer has provided a photo gallery for review.
This 220S is said to be free of substantial imperfections.
The 220S Cabriolet has been renowned – deservedly so – for its timeless elegance, open-air driving experience, and status. This refurbished example stays true to its original superior build quality with real wood trim, leather upholstery, and a mechanically sorted inline-six. It’s a sophisticated grand-tourer from one of Mercedes-Benz’s most memorable eras in motoring.
