SBX Cars is proud to offer for sale this 1974 Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 MFI, showing 22,836 km (14,190 miles) on the odometer at the time of cataloging, though true mileage is unknown. This right-hand-drive European-market example is one of just 1,036 produced for 1974 and represents a markedly different machine from the CIS-equipped Carreras sold in North America. Instead, it features Bosch mechanical fuel injection and the revered RS-derived flat-6.
Presented in its correct Gemini Blue finish following a comprehensive glass-out repaint, this Carrera 2.7 has been fully restored back to factory specification. Period-correct Fuchs wheels, black Carrera script, flared rear arches, and bright trim restore the car’s visual identity. Though not originally fitted with a ducktail, the car is currently equipped as such — a signature feature of the RS lineage.
The cabin remains true to the model’s original character, trimmed in Midnight Blue with VDO instrumentation, the original Recaro manually-adjustable bucket seats, and a simple driver-oriented layout. With its matching-numbers configuration, RS-spec mechanicals, and careful restoration history, this Carrera embodies the lightweight, mechanically direct driving experience that defines Porsche’s most revered air-cooled machines.
According to the seller, the engine and gearbox were rebuilt by Autohaus Hamilton prior to 2015, with confirmation based on inspection of available documentation and photographs. While original invoices are no longer available, the work is said to have been acknowledged by the servicing facility.
The odometer presently displays 22,836 km, though maintenance records indicate the car surpassed 100,000 km in 2008. True mileage is therefore believed to be approximately 122,846 km.
The seller states the car retains matching engine and chassis numbers and has been fully restored to original specification aside from a non-original radio. The restoration included a full glass-out repaint to correct Gemini Blue, replacement of non-original wheels with period-correct examples, and removal of a previously installed whale tail.
The car is described as rust-free, having resided in Australia since the early 1990s. It is presented in concours-level condition according to the seller.
This 1974 Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 MFI represents one of the most historically significant and mechanically engaging road cars of the air-cooled era. As a European-market example equipped with the RS-derived MFI engine, it delivers performance and character distinct from the CIS variants.
With matching-numbers mechanicals, restoration to factory specification, and a documented history spanning Ireland and Australia, this Carrera offers collectors an authentic and highly desirable expression of Porsche’s flagship mid-1970s performance model — a machine defined by lightweight construction, analog engagement, and enduring motorsport pedigree.
