Description

This is a 2019 Porsche 991.2 GT2 RS Clubsport. The non-street legal sports car is finished in pure white and is powered by a 3.8-liter, twin-turbocharged flat-six-cylinder engine mated to a PDK transmission, producing 700 hp and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque.

Revealed at the LA Auto Show in 2018, the GT2 RS Clubsport was touted at the time by the German marque as the most powerful GT customer sports car it had ever built. Positioned as a low-volume, track-only and fully optimized version of the popular 911 GT2 road car, those lucky enough to secure one of the 200 examples of the limited-production GT2 RS Clubsport have coveted the car as the ultimate turnkey race machine for track days and factory-backed Clubsport events around the world.

Taking the same 3.8-liter, twin-turbocharger, flat-six-cylinder engine from the road-going 911 GT2 RS, the powertrain in the GT2 RS Clubsport produces an incredible 700 hp and 750 Nm (552 lb-ft) of torque. Like in all other racing versions of the 911, the driver changes gears via ergonomically positioned shift paddles on the steering wheel. The positioning of the engine behind the rear axle ensures excellent traction and braking performances. Six-piston aluminum monobloc racing callipers on the front axle, in combination with internally ventilated and grooved steel brake discs with a 390-millimeter diameter, provide excellent deceleration values at the front axle. The rear axle is fitted with four-piston callipers and 380-millimeter discs.

Like the road-legal 911 GT2 RS, the 3,064-pound (1,390-kg) Clubsport version is equipped with PSM (Porsche Stability Management), including traction control, as well as an anti-lock braking system (ABS). Thanks to a so-called map switch positioned on the center console, these assistance systems can be adjusted separately or switched off completely, depending on the driving situation.

Unique benefits of the track-only car include an enhanced exhaust system that encourages an easier flow of exiting gases for added performance, while the used of forged suspension links on each axle – along with three-way adjustable dampers – allows the driver to tune the car’s characteristics and handling profile to suit the driving conditions or individual driver’s style. Another significant difference compared to the road-going car, the GT2 RS Clubsport was made alongside other Porsche greats at the company’s dedicated motorsport facility in Flacht, Germany, where the 911 GT3 Cup, 911 RSR, and Le Mans-winning 919 Hybrid were all constructed.

Porsche’s engineers went to great lengths to keep the GT2 RS Clubsport’s weight down. 165 pounds (75 kg) lighter than the GT2 RS, the GT2 RS Clubsport’s key areas of weight-saving are in the bodywork, where carbon-fiber reinforced plastic is deployed for the roof, front lid, front apron, doors, tail section, rear lid, and engine cover. As to be expected, modern-day comforts have been stripped out in favor of weight reduction, too. A removable carbon-fiber steering wheel – as used in the 911 GT3 R – greets the driver, as well as welded-in safety cage, and FIA-approved six-point safety harness for the fixed, single Recaro bucket seat with longitudinal seat adjustment. There is also an instrument cluster consisting of Cosworth ICD with an integrated data logger, sport chrono watch and boost gauge in a vintage finish.

This Clubsport is a striking example of the German marque’s coveted race car. Numbered 52 in a limited production run of 200 from Porsche Motorsport, it is offered for sale in brand-new condition, having never been driven or raced, with factory mileage.

The original specifications include a pure white finish, with other notable features including:

  • Carbon-fiber roof
  • Carbon-fiber front lid
  • Carbon-fiber front apron
  • Carbon-fiber doors
  • Carbon-fiber tail section
  • Carbon-fiber rear lid
