Overview

This 1984 DeTomaso Pantera GT5 shows 21,579 kilometers at the time of this cataloging. Finished in Amarena Metallizzato, a Dark Amarena/Black Cherry Metallic, over a burgundy leather interior, this Pantera is offered with a tool kit, service records, memorabilia, a parts catalog, uninstalled original wheels, and a clear title.

From its initial world debut in Modena in 1970, the Pantera became known for its unique combination of American horsepower with exotic Italian design. A limited-production GT5 variant came along over a decade later as a send-off to the supercar’s history. Its widebody, dramatic styling was made possible via front splitter, fiberglass fender flares, side skirts, and a rear wing. In addition, the GT5 received handling credentials to match its athletic stance, like a reinforced suspension and larger brakes.

This enthusiast-kept Pantera was treated to an $85,000 restoration under prior ownership and was known among members of the Pantera Owners Club of America (POCA). It is presented as a well-preserved, mechanically-sorted example from the limited-production GT5 run.

The car’s Cleveland V8 is a work of art in itself, showcasing polished aluminum with complementary red-painted accents throughout the compartment. The car’s massive 345-width Pirellis out back do the best that they can to efficiently channel the power to the pavement. For an analog, immersive driving experience, this Pantera will undoubtedly deliver.

Summary

The Pantera GT-5 (of which some sources say only about 250 were produced) blends reliable, high-performance American muscle with a sculpted Italian-designed body. The recent restoration expense, widebody treatment, luxurious interior appointments, and sex appeal make it a compelling collector opportunity.
