This 1981 DeLorean DMC-12 shows just 21,330 miles at the time of this cataloging. Finished in stainless-steel body work over a gray leather interior, this DMC-12 is offered by Orlando Classic Car Depot with memorabilia, a clean CARFAX report, and a clear title.
The DMC-12 is as much a car as it is a 1980s pop-culture icon. Instantly recognizable for its wedge-shaped silhouette, gullwing doors, and stainless-steel exterior, the DMC-12 has garnered a strong muti-generational community of owners over the last four decades. Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, the two-seater utilized a rear-engine with Bosch K-Jetronic mechanical fuel injection.
This 21,000-mile DeLorean was manufactured in Dunmurry, Northern Island in October 1981 for the initial model year of DMC-12 production. It retains largely original equipment throughout and presents in well-preserved condition. Features includes rear window louvers, Michelin tires, a Clarion CD audio system, and a Uniden CB radio as a means of period-correct communication.
The CARFAX report shows accident-free history with long-term Pacific Northwest ownership. This low-mileage DMC-12 presents a unique opportunity for classic-car aficionados, movie buffs, or anyone nostalgic about the radical 1980s. Dare we say, it’s a timeless car with unmatched character.
The CARFAX report shows historic service history including an oil change, brake service, and fluid check in 2004.
More recent service highlights are not available at this time, although the car is said to be free of outstanding mechanical needs.
The CARFAX report shows accident-free, damage-free ownership in Washington, with the first owner reported in September 1982. There is a mileage inconsistency from May 2004 when the five-digit odometer reading was logged as 121,029 miles. The selling dealer reports that this was mistake. A recent AutoCheck report does not reveal any issue with the odometer/mileage.
The selling dealer has provided a photo gallery as well as videos showing a drive-by, an interior overview, a start-up, and an exterior walk-around. There are some exterior and interior blemishes consistent with age and occasional use.
The DMC-12 is an iconic car with unparalleled cultural significance. This 21,330-mile gullwing-equipped example comes from long-term enthusiast ownership and has accident-free history. Thanks to the DeLorean’s on-screen stardom, it’s bound to be a crowd pleaser everywhere it goes.
