Overview

SBX Cars is proud to offer for sale this 1966 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 Hertz fastback showing 68,055 miles on the odometer at the time of this cataloging. Finished in black with gold accents over a black vinyl interior, this limited-production, first-generation pony car is now offered by the selling dealer with documentation, service records, a serial number verification document, and a clear title.

The Hertz “Rent-a-Racer” program was a pioneering promotion from Ford during the 1960s, putting race-ready, Shelby-modified pony cars into the hands of everyday enthusiasts. Today, surviving Mustangs from the program have become sought-after and highly collectible.

This example’s ownership history has been documented all the way back to its original delivery at Marshall Motor Company in Mayfield Heights, Ohio in May of 1966. The car has been enthusiast-owned throughout its life, with noteworthy spotlights including a feature in Mustang Monthly magazine as well as prior ownership by the Cobra Experience Museum in Martinez, California.

The car remains true to its original build specifications, aside from a revised rear-end gear ratio of 2.71:1 which allows for optimized, comfortable highway revs. This Hertz-exclusive GT350 is a truly unique muscle car with heightened provenance to go with its Shelby-endorsed performance creds.
