SBX Cars is proud to offer for sale this Backdraft Racing 1965 Shelby Cobra roadster replica showing 3,444 miles on the odometer at the time of this cataloging. Finished in Salsa Red with white racing stripes over a black leather interior, it is offered by JLD Auto Group in Florida with a car cover, a cockpit cover, build sheets, manuals, two keys, and a clear title.
Backdraft Racing, based in Boynton Beach, Florida, was founded in 2001 by world champion racers Reg Dodd and Tony Martin. The company specializes in turn-key replica vehicles, and for the last 20-plus years, it has remained at the forefront of custom car architecture with an emphasis on authenticity.
This striking Shelby Cobra replica was custom-built in 2011 by Backdraft and has accrued just over 3,000 miles in the subsequent years. Its flared fenders and side exhaust pipes give it a muscular look, and its race-proven powertrain is as hot as the Salsa Red paint job. Specifically, the heart of the beast is a Roush Performance “427R” – a hand-assembled powerplant with forged pistons and rods, a hydraulic roller camshaft, aluminum heads, and CNC-machined ports. Backdraft describes the car’s powertrain as a “loud American V8 soundtrack,” and after viewing the seller-provided videos, we think you’ll agree.
What happens when you combine an iconic 1960s look with modern performance? The Shelby Cobra replica is the best of all worlds. It has an aggressive stance, a potent V8, and signature design elements from the iconic original Cobras of 60 years ago. Best of all, it gives a visceral connection to the driving experience thanks to its open-cockpit design, a raw exhaust note, and sharp handling.
Buckle up your harness. This Cobra is a thrill ride that will leave you speechless.
The car passed a New York state safety inspection for 2025 at 3,435 miles.
Per the selling dealer, the previous owner regularly took the vehicle to Backdraft's facility for service.
The selling dealer has provided a photo gallery which includes the exterior, interior, engine compartment, and underbody. In addition, a series of videos will demonstrate a start-up, a drive-by, an exterior walk-around, and an interior overview.
This Backdraft Racing Shelby Cobra replica is said to be free of substantial imperfections.
Per the selling dealer, there will be no documentation fees.
It just doesn’t get any better than this. Vintage looks, modern performance, a climate control system, a rocking stereo, and the safety of four-wheel disc brakes. Backdraft Racing has checked all the boxes with this Cobra replica. At just 3,444 miles driven since completion, this Salsa Red street machine is ready to deliver on every promise and then some. Bid with confidence on a car that was built with precision and purpose.
