SBX Cars is proud to offer for sale this 2014 BMW i8 showing 21,690 kilometers (13,478 miles) at the time of this cataloging. Finished in Crystal White Pearl over an Ivory White leather interior, this GCC-region hybrid supercar is now offered in Dubai with service records and an AutoHub inspection.
This iconic supercar was formerly owned by a sports legend. Argentine soccer player Diego Maradona was widely considered one of the greatest soccer players of all time. Among the many successes in his storied 21-year career was his outstanding performance in the 1986 World Cup. As it turns out, Maradona selected a mode of transportation that was equally as agile and athletic as he was. This hybrid BMW i8 supercar was owned by Maradona for seven years during his residence in Dubai and was acquired directly from Maradona in November 2018 by the current consignor.
The i8 was – and remains – a futuristic machine. Originally inspired by the BMW “Vision EfficientDynamics” concept car from 2009, it debuted in 2013 in Frankfurt and showcased BMW’s idea of combining a high-efficiency powertrain with sports car performance. The production i8 upheld the promise – and the look – when the car formally went on sale. It could travel up to 37 kilometers on electric power alone, and it boasted about 76 MPGe when leveraging both gasoline and electric inputs. Journalists praised the car’s seamless transitions and power delivery: Car and Driver magazine said the i8 “Masterfully walks both sides of the automotive spectrum: punchy powertrain and flashy styling.”
This Middle Eastern-specification, low-mileage i8 comes with strong service history and celebrity ownership. It is a supercar fit for the collector who demands both performance and provenance.
According to the seller, there is full service history available.
The most recent service took place in April 2025, and the car has only been driven approximately 200 km since.
A third-party inspection was performed on October 16, 2025. Following were some of the takeaways:
Vehicle diagnostic reports have been provided from before an after a test-drive. There were 28 systems scanned. DTC error codes were logged for 80409E (Brake Light Switch) and 8041AB (Battery Exhaustive Discharge Protection).
According to the inspection report, the following were noted in addition to the above:
Please note that as this vehicle was built to GCC specifications, it is not permissible for importation to the United States without being federalized.
The i8 was a supercar class of its own, known for being lightweight and advanced. Today, the car remains an icon of motoring that has held its own among collectors and enthusiasts. From its unmistakable wind-carving silhouette to its butterfly doors, the car had a futuristic look that was complemented by an innovative gas-electric hybrid powertrain that could propel it to 100 km/h in only about 4.4 seconds.
This athlete-owned i8 delivers the performance of a supercar with the stewardship of a collector-grade keepsake.
