Since its inception in 1952, the Lotus marque has achieved acclaim for its success in motorsports and its creation of some of the world’s most engaging cars. Team Lotus won seven Formula One titles and six Drivers’ Championships between 1962 and 1968, and the company’s emphasis on lightweight, low-volume sports cars has brought to life some world-renowned machines like the Elise and the Evora.
The new Emira, originally codenamed Type 131, went into production in 2022 following a reveal at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. It is described as being equal parts raw and refined, lending an “old-school spirit” to the exhilarating driving experience that one would expect from a Lotus. The Emira is built at the Hethel, United Kingdom facility, and according to parent company Geely, it will be the last model from the brand to use internal-combustion power.
