Description

Up for sale is Supercar Blondie’s 2017 Rolls Royce Wraith Black Badge.

When Rolls-Royce first introduced the Wraith name in 1938, the model was sold as a rolling chassis with an inline six-cylinder engine and four-speed manual gearbox. Typical of fine cars of that era, these chassis were then finished with hand-built bodies crafted by one of numerous coachbuilders. Therefore, there is no definitive body style for the first-generation Wraith, which was only built until 1939.

The name was revived after WWII, this time as the Silver Wraith produced from 1946 to 1955, again as a coach-ready chassis. It would remain dormant until 2013, when the modern Rolls-Royce Motor Cars needed a designation for its graceful new smaller Ghost-based coupe. In keeping with the theme of naming its vehicles for quiet spirits, the Wraith (a Scottish word for ghost) wafted onto the market as a 2014 model, eventually replacing the more formal Phantom Coupe.

Powered by a BMW-developed 6.6-liter twin-turbo V12, the Wraith was conceived as a sporty Rolls-Royce to be driven by its owner rather than a chauffeur. Its fast-sweeping hardtop roofline suggested it was built for speed, and the numbers backed it up. Despite a weight of more than two and a half tons, it could sprint to 60 mph in about 4.4 seconds.

A pair of rear-hinged coach doors welcomed up to four people into the intimate cockpit, outfitted with typical Rolls-Royce appointments. In 2016 onward, an optional Black Badge model featured black design elements, including the iconic Spirit of Ecstasy hood mascot. It also gained more than 50 lb-ft (70 N-m) of torque from the V12 through factory engine tuning enhancements.

This 2017 Rolls-Royce Wraith Black Badge has been the personal vehicle of Alex Hirschi, who you may know better as Supercar Blondie. She took delivery of this car as its second owner in 2021 in Dubai, chronicling her purchase and ownership in multiple video episodes. Originally finished White lowers with Black bonnet, roof and boot, the car was subsequently painted in Nardo Gray with a peelable paint to protect the car with Hermes Orange accents.

The wrap film has been professionally removed and the vehicle once again presents in its original finishes.

Inside, the cabin is outfitted in two-tone Ivory and Black leather. The wood veneer accents you might expect to see in a Rolls-Royce interior are instead finished in glossy carbon fiber that come in the Black Badge Edition. This example is also fitted with the Starlight headliner for a mesmerizing passenger experience, day or night. The custom-installed Hermes-inspired orange seatbelts remain, however.

With 65,560 km covered (about 40,737 mi), this Rolls Royce is being offered at No Reserve as an introduction to our SBX Cars Auctions.

Historically, Rolls-Royce and Bentley vehicles were essentially identical but for the branding. Bentleys, however, were often positioned as the choice for owner-drivers, while Rollers were meant to be chauffeur driven. Tradition aside, none of that matters with either company’s contemporary lineup.

That said, the Wraith is Rolls-Royce’s answer to Bentley’s popular performance-focused Continental coupes. Smaller than the Phantom Coupe, the Wraith embodies athletic performance while retaining the family’s tradition of ultimate luxury and pure design. This Black Badge edition takes all three of those qualities to new heights.

Add in the fact that this car was the personal vehicle of Supercar Blondie herself, and you could be the next owner of an unmatched personal luxury statement.
