SBX Cars is proud to offer for sale this 1964 Shelby CSX9000 Daytona Coupe showing just 4,116 mi (6,624 km) on the odometer at the time of cataloging. Finished in Guardsman Blue over a Black leather and Alcantara cabin, this continuation coupe brings the legendary ‘60s FIA racer back to life.
After dominating tight American road courses in the early 1960s with the Cobra roadster, Carroll Shelby set his sights on the high-speed straightaways of European circuits. With the help of Peter Brock and Ken Miles, the Daytona Coupe was created to go up against the likes of Ferrari and Aston Martin.
The effort culminated in 1965 when the Shelby Daytona Coupe won the GT III class of the FIA World Sportscar Championship, becoming the only American manufacturer to do so. Just six of these legendary race cars, with those incredibly low-slung lines and signature Kamm tail, were built.
Fortunately, Shelby American has brought the Daytona Coupe back in the form of the CSX9000 Continuation Series. Once again tapping the talents of Peter Brock and the corporate design archives, these modern tributes to the famed track star are nothing short of spectacular. Today’s example is chassis CSX9170 and it’s a stunner.
Per the selling dealer, the vehicle was acquired from the original owner.
A new clutch has been installed and the headers and side pipes were just re-coated in a fresh ceramic silver coating. All work was done in-house.
As seen in the gallery, this low-mileage 1964 Shelby CSX9000 Daytona Coupe benefits from full-coverage PPF and has few imperfections aside from minor upholstery wear, some paint chips and fading in areas around the headlights and on the hood, and scratches underneath the car.
Per the selling dealer, the original odometer stopped working at approximately 1,600 miles. The replacement unit shows 2,516 miles for a total of 4,116 miles on the car.
The Shelby Daytona Coupe is steeped in motorsports history, a racer that shocked the automotive world in 1965. Designed for maximum performance, the Peter Brock-penned body would go on to be one of the most desirable styles…ever.
Created using the original Shelby blueprints with a slightly larger passenger compartment, a handful of creature comforts, and a modern powertrain, today’s Continuation Daytona Coupe, chassis CSX9170, is a peerless grand tourer sure to be the highlight of your collection.
