Iowa-based Monarch is a renowned Defender restoration outfit that brings master artisans, modern mechanicals, and stunning designs to bear on the original Land Rover Defender. Each one is a unique blend of classic design and contemporary functionality.
Today’s 1992 example was completed in 2023 at a cost of more than $185,000. A full frame-off restoration, it boasts an all-new galvanized chassis, a rebuilt Land Rover V8, new suspension and brakes, and heavy-duty axles. Dubbed “Cumbria”, in honor of the English region, it is the definition of a timeless automotive masterpiece.
A single oil change has been performed since the restoration was completed two years ago.
