SBX Cars is proud to offer for sale this 1967 Jaguar XKE Series I E-Type roadster showing 59,345 miles at the time of this cataloging. Finished in Pale Primrose with a black retractable top over a black leather interior, this XKE is offered by Black Horse Garage in Bridgeport, Connecticut with spare parts, a convertible boot, restoration documentation, a manual, service records, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, and a clear title.
Drawing design influence from the Jaguar D-Type race car, the Series I was produced from 1961 through 1968 at Jaguar’s Coventry, England facility. The car received resounding accolades in the motoring press for its sleek design and exhilarating power delivery. Even Enzo Ferrari at one time was quoted as saying that the E-Type was “the most beautiful car ever made.” The E-Type boasted a number of innovations for its time, as it came with four-wheel disc brakes, unibody construction, a fully independent suspension, rack-and-pinion steering, a synchromesh gearbox, and of course a distinctive aerodynamic silhouette.
According to documentation from Jaguar Heritage Trust, this unit bearing chassis number 1E 15293 was assembled in Coventry on April 6,1967 in Carmen Red over a black leather interior, then subsequently distributed by Jaguar Cars of New York. In more recent years, it was restored in a period-correct exterior color. A complete mechanical overhaul has been performed involving the running gear, suspension, braking system, and chassis. Accompanying the car is a large library of receipts and photos for such.
Of note, the car was used in production of a 2017 short film filmed in New York City called “Little Heart.” It will inevitably make any occupant feel like a celebrity. The XKE Series I is one of the most recognizable collector-cars in existence, and this example is worthy of strong consideration for Jaguar enthusiasts.
The engine was overhauled by Carlquist Competition Engines in Oakville, Connecticut as supported by the accompanying service documents.
Select highlights of work performed between about 2014 and 2017 included:
Interested buyers are encouraged to review the accompanying media and service records. The selling dealer has provided photos which chronicle the restoration process as well as detail of the exterior, interior, undercarriage, engine compartment, and trunk. In addition, there are videos showing a start-up, a drive-by, and an exterior walk-around.
This E-Type is said to be free of substantial imperfections.
The E-Type’s sleek silhouette is both captivating and graceful. The design has captivated the world since 1961, and the engineering was far ahead of its time. Among collectors, well-preserved Series I models are highly desirable for their historical significance, driving experience, and value appreciation. This well-sorted XKE has undergone extensive mechanical work to prepare it for its presigious future owner.
