The OG icon. Lightweight, rear-engined, and dripping in vintage cool — it’s not just a car, it’s a rolling piece of art that started it all for Porsche!

    Overview

SBX Cars is proud to offer for sale this 1957 Porsche 356A 1600 Super coupe showing 2,115 kilometers (1,309 miles) at the time of this cataloging. Finished in silver metallic over a red leather interior, it is offered with service records by the seller in Dubai.

Relatively few vehicles in automotive history are revered as much as the original roadgoing Porsche sports cars. The 356 was the first production car to bear the Porsche name when it was launched in the late 1940s. An initial unit hit the road in Gmünd, Austria in June 8, 1948. A 356 SL driven by Auguste Veuillet and Edmond Mouche won its class at the 24 Hours of LeMans shortly thereafter in 1951. The rest, as they say, is history. The 356 put the literal wheels in motion for Porshe’s storied success in motorsports and the brand’s indelible presence in pop-culture thereafter.

This smooth, streamlined 1957 356A bearing chassis number 100555 is one of the rare surviving originals from those early days and went through restoration under prior ownership. The car retains its identification plates in the driver door jamb, including the stamped VIN plate from Reutter Karosserie in Germany. A comprehensive overhaul was carried out at Parkhaus1 Performance LLC in Miami in 2024, including work to the fuel system, electrical system, gaskets, ignition, and more.

The exterior, interior, and engine bay of this pioneering Porsche are concours-worthy, and an AutoHub inspection provides additional details along for discerning buyers. As the well-known Porsche slogan says, “There is no substitute.” Bid with confidence on one of Porsche’s most timeless creations.
