SBX Cars is proud to offer for sale this 1964 Mercedes-Benz 300SE cabriolet showing 1,615 kilometers (1,003 miles) at the time of this cataloging. Finished in Hellblau with a dark blue retractable top over a saddle leather interior, this W112-series cabriolet is offered by a private seller with a convertible boot, restoration documentation, manuals, registration certificates, a 2016 appraisal, and a clear title.
Exclusivity and opulence go hand in hand with the 300SE cabriolet. According to production data from Mercedes-Benz, there were just 708 total W112-chassis cabriolets produced between model years 1962 and 1967. They were lauded as top-range executive cars when new – distinguished from lesser Mercedes models by generous chrome trim, elegant burled walnut trim, and pneumatic air suspensions.
Chassis number 007188 has been driven just 1,615 kilometers since undergoing a painstaking multi-year, frame-off restoration that was completed in 2016. During its overhaul, the car received new or refurbished components throughout. Most notably, it was refinished in its striking original Hellblau paint color – a rare hue that was limited to this unit alone per the seller’s research on production numbers. The results speak for themselves; the car is now ready for the most prestigious of shows.
Interested parties are encouraged to review the photo gallery to get a glimpse of the level of effort that went into the restoration. The step-by-step chronology is documented in nearly 400 photographs.
The 300SE was the ultimate in upscale motoring 60 years ago, and it remains an iconic status symbol even today. Rest assured you won’t find another 300SE restored to this level – or in this color – again.
The most recent major service for the vehicle was performed in February 2025 and included replacement of the engine oil, filters, and tires. In 2023, the air suspension and fuel injection systems were serviced.
The engine, gearbox, and air suspension were overhauled in 2016 during restoration. In addition, the brakes and fuel injection system were addressed at that time. The seller has included scanned images of select parts and service invoices relevant to the scope of work that was carried out.
Photographs are also provided of the end-to-end restoration process for further scrutiny and review.
The photo gallery shows the car in top-up and top-down configurations, and a catalog of videos has been provided by the seller to illustrate the car’s exterior, interior, and driving dynamics.
An appraisal was carried out by Ingenierbüro Ernst on May 19, 2016, within which a replacement value for the car was listed at 256,000 Euros. During the appraisal inspection, the identity of the vehicle was verified against the accompanying paperwork. The report reads, “The general condition was in very good condition, commensurate with the age and mileage at the time of inspection. The client submitted photographic documents that prove the complete rebuilding of the W112.”
