Designed by Larry Shinoda under Bill Mitchell, the C2 Split Window is one of the sexiest American classics ever made! Manufactured for one year only, the car became an instant icon and continues to garner big money from collectors and enthusiasts.

    Overview

SBX Cars is proud to offer for sale this 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray split-window coupe showing 6,322 miles on a replacement odometer at the time of this cataloging. Finished in Riverside Red over a black vinyl interior, this restored C2 is offered by County Corvette in West Chester, Pennsylvania.

Chevrolet rolled out important advancements when the second-generation Corvette hit the streets in 1963, including retractable headlights, a new ladder-type frame, a four-wheel independent suspension and improved weight distribution. According to the National Corvette Museum, that year saw production of 21,513 Corvettes. Of those, about half – 10,594, to be exact – were coupes.

While the C2 Sting Ray’s aerodynamic silhouette is unmistakable and iconic from any angle, the coupes from 1963 are among the most recognizable vehicles in all of automotive history – thanks to the split-rear-window design that was used for that first year only. Today, relatively few surviving coupes remain on the road – let alone in largely original configurations with numbers-matching mechanicals.

This Riverside Red split-window brings all of that and more. It boasts a straight body, a largely original interior and a numbers-matching 340-horsepower 327ci V8. The car even has its original Carter “3641S” four-barrel carburetor which has been restored to optimal performance by a specialty facility with over 30 years of experience in Corvette preservation and restoration.

The split-window Corvette is – and will be continue to be – an enthusiast’s favorite and a collector’s dream. Those dreams are about to come true for someone, and it could be you.
