Description

OVERVIEW

SBX Cars is proud to offer for sale this single-family-owned 1974 Jensen Interceptor S Cabriolet showing 21,000 km (13,049 mi) on the odometer at the time of cataloging. Finished in Dark Blue Metallic over a Tan leather cabin, this bespoke restomod has been with one family since completion.

Jensen Interceptor. As Evo magazine notes, the name alone conjures images of playboys blasting across Europe circa 1970 in search of the perfect martini. With crisp Italian sheet metal courtesy of Carrozzeria Touring, a thumping American V8 heart, and West Midlands craftsmanship, the Interceptor delivers on that fantasy.

Fast-forward to 2007 and UK-based Cropredy Bridge was hard at work bringing the classic Interceptor Mk III back to life. Rather than perform the restoration with an overly complex update, this crew of former Aston Martin and Morgan specialists kept all the character while perfecting the mechanicals.

Highlights include a fully independent suspension replacing the original leaf-sprung live rear axle. New 17” alloy wheels that mirror the factory units are mounted in wide, modern rubber. And of course, there’s the engine. Gone is the 70s-era Chrysler V8 in favor of a 2007 General Motors 6.0L LS2 V8.

Cropredy set out to build just 50 of these individually-numbered modern Jensen Interceptor masterpieces and today's example is an even more exciting cabriolet variant. After being completely disassembled, stripped to bare metal, and rebuilt with modern paint techniques to go with the potent 414-horse V8, this Interceptor is something different entirely.

  •  “It’s like a Dodge Coronet that went to college at Oxford.” - Jay Leno

  • “Tiny throttle openings produce dramatic results and you seem to be able to surge past everything in sight on 2000 rpm or less.” - Evo

SUMMARY

In its day, the Jensen Interceptor was aimed at Jaguar and Aston Martin with looks that continue to stand out today. Cropredy Bridge has simply reinvigorated this classic British grand tourer with ample modern power and dramatically improved chassis engineering. The timeless style remains.

In doing so, they’ve created the perfect foil to the current crop of ultra-high-tech vehicles. For those in seek of something different, something new - relatively - this Jensen Interceptor S with its rumbling V8 soundtrack, wind-in-your-hair driving, and classy blue over tan scheme is just the thing.
