OVERVIEW
SBX Cars is proud to offer for sale this 2018 Aston Martin DB4 GT Continuation showing just 3 km (1.9 mi) on the odometer at the time of cataloging. Finished in Moonbeam Silver over a Dark Brown and Black cabin, this stunning modern version of an all-time icon is as rare as it is gorgeous.
Few companies feature the pedigree and vibrant history of Aston Martin, an automaker with roots stretching back over 100 years, during which icons like the DB4 GT were born. A race-prepped variant of the famed DB4, in 1959 the DB4 GT won its debut outing at Silverstone with Stirling Moss at the helm.
Based on the production DB4, the GT model was shorter, lighter, sleeker, and more powerful. The fastest passenger sports car in Britain at the time, it was introduced the same year that Aston Martin scored its historic outright win at Le Mans.
At the time, only 75 were built. Fast forward nearly 60 years and Aston Martin set out to finish the original plan of creating 100 DB4 GTs to justify its racing career. The fabulous Moonbeam Silver example up for auction today is one of those 25.
Requiring an estimated 4,500 hours to complete, this car is the result of meticulous 3-D scanning and poring over hundreds of original drawings. Aston Martin Works, the British automaker’s in-house restoration division performed this ultimate example of old world craftsmanship meets modern engineering at Aston’s spiritual home in Newport Pagnell.
This is not a restoration or a restomod, but a factory-built facsimile of the original DB4 GT with all-new parts down to the thin-gauge aluminum body over a tubular frame, the enlarged Tadek Marek-designed straight-6, and the 4-speed manual with straight-cut gears. Even the tools used in the process are the same as those used all those years ago.
To keep the bloodline unbroken, the continuation car VIN numbers carry on from the final DB4 GT ordered at the time - Chassis number 0202R. It’s all part of a dedicated effort to ensure these modern DB4 GTs build on the exceptional qualities of the originals while keeping the feel and character alive.
Aston Martin’s own Le Mans winning driver, Darren Turner, was heavily involved in the development of this car to ensure it was up to modern standards, while original suppliers like Borrani supplied the spectacular wire wheels.
Going one step further, this particular DB4 GT Continuation has been made road legal in the UK and EU via the IVA compliance protocol performed by R-Reforged.
Although Aston Martin built these DB4 GT Continuation models as non-road-legal track-only cars, R-Reforged offers a service to certify them for the street. A fully reversible process, it involves exchanging some 60 components to meet current standards - all of which accompany the car in a bespoke campaign case.
