OVERVIEW
SBX Cars is proud to offer for sale this 2021 Aston Martin DB5 Continuation Goldfinger Edition showing just 48 km (30 mi) on the odometer at the time of cataloging. Finished in Silver Birch over a Grey Connolly leather cabin, this authentic tribute to the original DB5 is a uniquely special version of “the most famous car in the world.”
When Sean Connery’s James Bond character showed up in the Aston Martin DB5 for 1964’s Goldfinger film, one of the most unforgettable automotive pop culture icons was created. Now, more than 50 years later, that icon has been brought back to life by some of the most talented craftspeople and engineers in the world.
The car itself is a marvel of modern technology created with the help of a high-powered CT scanner that digitally sliced an original DB5 into 1 mm slivers so that 55-year-old issues could be gently corrected. Original suppliers including ZF, Girling, and Avon dusted off archival documents to create new transmissions, brakes, and tires.
Aston Martin Works, the British automaker’s in-house restoration division, put 4,500 hours of old-world craftsmanship and cutting-edge modern engineering into building the first new DB5s in over half a century. Then there are the gadgets.
Tapping the vast experience of EON Productions, the filmmaker behind James Bond, and renowned special effects guru Chris Corbould, the DB5 Continuation Goldfinger Edition came together with fabulous recreations of the wonderful gadgetry made famous by Q Branch. All of which is detailed below.

Gadgets
Armrest Controls: Hidden within the center armrest is a control panel to operate the unique features of this DB5. Switches are pushed forward to activate and pulled back to deactivate. Individual status lamps illuminate to indicate when a gadget is armed.
Gear knob: The red gear knob button operates the oil slick, smoke screen, machine guns, and roof hatch, which are all active and armed in a ready state. If more than one of these gadgets is armed, the button operates all active gadgets at the same time.
Remote Control: An included remote control module operates the same way as the armrest controls without needing to be inside the car. It works at a distance of up to 20 meters via RF communication and is activated using the key and On/Off switch. The module can be charged with the armrest wireless charging pad or the included cable.
Imitation Oil Slick:Arming the Oil Slick gadget will flip the rear indicator lamps up and expose the oil slick nozzles. Pressing the gearknob button will activate the system which sprays for up to 30 seconds. Dyed water is used in place of oil.
Smoke Screen: After arming the system and depressing the red gearknob button, a smoke screen will deploy from behind the rear valence. This non-hazardous smoke is fed from a tank in the spare wheel well and can provide up to 5 minutes of smoke.
Imitation Machine Guns: With the imitation Browning .30 caliber machine guns, arming the system will drop the front indicator lamps and slide the guns out. To fire, press the gearknob button. The guns feature mechanized recoil action and LED illumination.
Imitation Battering Rams: A pair of retractable battering rams are located on the front and rear bumper. Pressing and holding the armrest control panel switch operates each pair of decorative rams.
Removable Ejector Roof Panel: To support the use of a potential ejector seat, a section of the roof can be removed. Doing so entails arming the system with the control panel and pressing the gearknob button to release the latches for 20 seconds. A display stand for the roof panel is also included with the car.
Revolving Number Plates: Three number plates, from Great Britain, France, and Switzerland, are built into a rotating mechanism at the front and rear of the car. A three-way switch in the armrest control panel is used to select each one.
Rear Bullet Screen: A retractable bullet screen located in the boot lid can be raised and lowered using the armrest control panel. It is manufactured from a UL752 Level 2 firearms material but is not designed to be used for ballistic protection.
Radar Tracker: Hidden behind a tambour door in the center console is a radar screen and tracker. A switch hidden below the radio opens the door and the bottom left button turns the radar unit on or off. The screen plots the vehicle's position as the center point and as the vehicle moves, the map moves around it.
Telephone: The telephone hidden within the driver-side door is Bluetooth-capable. It can be paired with your mobile device under the “Goldfinger” name and can transfer calls from the mobile device to the telephone handset.
Hidden Tray: A storage tray that slides out from under the driver’s seat is ideal for devices and items that need to stay hidden.
Ornamental Tyre Shredders: Supplied in a trunk-mounted case are a set of ornamental tyre shredders. The shredder, shaft, and wheel spinner can be assembled together for display purposes but cannot be fitted to the car.

SUMMARY
Unlike virtually anything on the road, this 2021 Aston Martin DB5 Continuation Goldfinger Edition is an amazing blend of Sir David Brown-era craftsmanship, modern automotive engineering and performance, and fantastic cutting-edge James Bond-inspired gadgetry.
Not only is this DB5 an exacting modern version of the iconic 1960s saloon - of which fewer than 900 were built - it brings every James Bond fantasy to life. As seen in the gallery videos, the turn signals flip down so the guns can slide out and “fire”. The original number plates from Goldfinger revolve via remote control just like in the movie.
Water steps in for use in the oil slick delivery system and sprays from the rear lights, a metal screen raises and lowers from the trunk, the radar tracker beeps, the shift knob top flips open to reveal the “eject” button, and the battering rams glide in and out of the bumpers.
It is a remarkable feat of engineering, technology, and craftsmanship. One that came with a price tag of £2.75m plus taxes when new, ensuring this modern marvel of classic Aston Martin and James Bond history remains a rare opportunity for only the most serious collectors.
