Description
Offered for sale is this 2019 McLaren Senna XP Home Win Edition.
This McLaren Senna is a very specific and special 'tribute' car. It is a one-of-one specification, created to celebrate the first time Formula 1 legend Ayrton Senna won a race in his home country of Brazil, at the Interlagos racetrack, in the 1991 F1 season. The result of a collaborative effort between the original owner, McLaren Beverly Hills, and McLaren Special Operations, this example features exclusive cosmetic options created at the factory. Its carbon-fiber monocoque body boasts a glossy 'Visual Carbon Fiber' finish, and it's powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transaxle.
It features distinctive green and yellow body accents, a rear wing adorned with a Brazilian flag graphic, green leather upholstery embellished with embroidered Brazilian flags, green-tinted carbon-fiber interior trim, and a carbon-fiber steering wheel featuring green and yellow 12 o'clock markers.
Additional equipment includes front and rear parking sensors, a backup camera, Gorilla Glass door panels, a glass upper rear bulkhead, an MSO push-to-drink system, and a premium Bowers & Wilkins seven-speaker audio system. The car also boasts a Formula 1-inspired roof scoop, front and side air intakes, rear air louvers, and a double-element rear diffuser.
Twin-hinge dihedral doors open to reveal a cockpit featuring green-tinted carbon-fiber bucket seats with green leather upholstery, complemented by yellow contrast stitching, pinstriping, and embroidered Brazilian flags on the headrests.
Green-tinted carbon-fiber accents adorn the interior, and additional features include dual-zone climate control, the MSO push-to-drink system, a premium Bowers & Wilkins seven-speaker audio system, and a portrait-oriented infotainment system complete with Bluetooth, satellite radio connectivity, and navigation.
While this particular example is truly one of a kind, the Senna is already a very special limited-production-run supercar for McLaren. Part of the company’s Ultimate Series, the flagships of the modern McLaren model line, the Senna was appropriately the most track-focused model they had produced in their modern era.
And it’s no small detail that McLaren calls it a Senna Edition. McLaren was the only company licensed by Ayrton Senna’s foundation to utilize his name, so they were determined to make the model worthy of the honor.
In McLaren’s interpretation, that meant a more pure, track-focused expression of the supercar ideal - no electric motor assistance to trim weight to a minimum, enhanced active aerodynamics to provide downforce and grip, and liberal use of carbon fiber using the latest technological advances.
But the simple reading of technical specifications doesn’t explain how focused the Senna is as a means of achieving better track times, even compared to McLaren's other offerings. The suspension utilizes McLaren’s Race Active Chassis Control 2, with active roll bars and stabilization making the ability more accessible to a wider range of drivers - but the adjustability makes it particularly rewarding for those with the ability and experience to utilize it.
So the Senna is worthy of the name, but for the current and original owner, McLaren’s tribute to the legendary racing driver simply did not go far enough. Having the car’s livery honor one of the most important Formula 1 wins in Ayrton Senna’s career - as determined by Senna himself, and how emotional he felt by achieving that success - is inspired, and so comprehensively carried out by McLaren, that it’s hard to imagine a better way to honor the late Brazilian.
This Senna is a one-owner vehicle, with 571 miles covered, and full documented history. The Home Victory Edition features distinctive green and yellow body accents, a rear wing adorned with a Brazilian flag graphic, green leather upholstery embellished with embroidered Brazilian flags, green-tinted carbon-fiber interior trim, and a carbon-fiber steering wheel featuring green and yellow 12 o'clock markers.
