MODEL HISTORY

While it’s true that every Ferrari is innovative by definition, it’s equally true that in the course of the Prancing Horse’s history, certain cars have marked a genuine departure from the current range. This is very much the case with the Ferrari 458 Italia, which was a massive leap forward from the company’s previous mid-rear engined sports cars.

The 458 Italia was a synthesis of style, creative flair, passion and cutting-edge technology, characteristics for which Italy as a nation is well-known. For this reason, Ferrari chose to add the name of its homeland to the traditional figure representing the displacement and number of cylinders.

Debuting at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, the 458 Italia was a completely new car from every point of view: engine, design, aerodynamics, handling, instrumentation and ergonomics, just to name a few.

Beneath the glass panel behind the passenger compartment sat an upgraded version of the F136 V8 that had debuted in the car’s F430 predecessor. Unlike its predecessor, the powertrain now had direct injection fitted – the first time in a mid-engine car with the Prancing Horse affixed to its nose. Rated at a compelling 562 horsepower in its initial guise, the engine was mated to a rapid-shifting seven-speed Getrag dual-clutch transmission, hurtling power to the rear wheels.

The 458 Italia’s design was, of course, handled by Pininfarina, with oversight provided by Donato Coco. The sports car’s design saw special winglets incorporated into the front grille, splitting the air more efficiently while providing a remarkably elegant touch. The inclusion of magnetic dampers cushioned the ride when needed and firmed up for high-performance, track-day sprints. With potent power on tap, the 458 needed an adequate braking system, so Ferrari engineered an innovative system that moved the pistons into the calipers as soon as the driver lifted off the gas pedal to pre-charge the system. From 60 mph (97 km/h), the 458 would come to a halt in just 80 feet (24 meters).

THIS FERRARI 458 ITALIA

This stunning example of a Ferrari 458 Italia is finished in eye-catching Argento Nurburging with a Nero leather interior. Options include 20-inch black alloy wheels, yellow brake calipers, suspension lifter, Scuderia Ferrari shields, stereo with CD changer and Bluetooth connectivity, carbon-fiber steering wheel with shift-point LEDs, full-electric seats, and white colored stitching.

This 458 Italia was delivered new to Wide World of Cars of Spring Valley, New York in September 2011. The odometer shows 23,560 miles at the time of cataloging.

The interior of the car is described by the seller as being in immaculate condition, with the seats showing no wear. The same can be said for the car’s exterior, which benefits from Paint Protection Film (PPF) on the hood, front fenders, front bumper, mirrors, and roof.

MECHANICAL

This F458 Italia has been well cared for, with its second-to-last service carried out in April 2022 at 20,412 miles by Ferrari Philadelphia, at which time it received an annual service in addition to a fluid inspection, safety inspection, and emissions inspection.

In May 2024, the F458 Italia received a full Ferrari inspection and major service carried out by Black Horse Garage in Bridgeport, Connecticut, which included all the fluids being changed. Fuel analyzer results from the tests most recently performed have been supplied by the seller.
